The NCMCM 2004 was decided to take place in the Northern area of Kashmir. It was fun filled adventure for each participant; every person from the group leader to the organizer to the participant had a lot of fun. Different people from various part of the Pakistan participated in this event. It was a ten days event full of fun and independence. From the beauty of LeepaValley to the Ganga Choti, we got to see many amazing sites and not to forget the experience of sleeping in tents. There were different activities for us, we had to do a lot of trekking, some times come across some different tracks, we also come across some camps of Pakistan Army. We also met the local Kashmiri people, who had great knowledge of their surroundings. Our mission was to spread awareness about the importance of our environments, we planted a lot of trees collected a lot of waste and garbage. We had experienced environmentalists who shared a lot of their knowledge with us. The heavy rains and night fires was all part of trip, playing games, cooking food, we had no time to get bored or even think of our families. It was a great adventure; I still remember our bathroom tents and the cold water we had to use. We also saw the wildlife of Kashmir, Different plants and flowers, rare mushrooms. Every thing was well arranged, secured and organized. Every night we sat down in our group and discussed what we did. Making a lot of new friends, learning about our country was a part of our trip.
Upon reaching the base camp it was a very difficult feeling; being among some of our old friends in a new surrounding and the environment was great, away from homes and family. It was truly an amazing trip. We were given all the facilities we needed. Different kinds of breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday. Physical workout in the morning and packing up our bags for the journey, we got to see the time of control, dipped our feet in the cold rushing waters and climbed mountains. We got to know a lot of different people and their way of life. The event was widely covered by professional photographers and moviemakers. All the movies were recorded. All the participants were performed in the cultural night, every group were sharing his culture and heritage with us. The trip ended in the capital “Islamabad” with a seminar and some speeches from participants. It was a great event.
Nonetheless to round it up it was an unforgettable journey from the start, I have still remembered the luxurious tents bathrooms and never felt home sick and looking forward to attend the next NCMCM 2005 probably in the HunzaValley. Hopefully see you there.
